The longtime home of R&B singer-songwriter James Ingram has hit the right note with a home buyer, selling for $1.6 million.

Set on a corner lot in the Brookside neighborhood, the 1920s Spanish-style house of 3,250 square feet has living and dining rooms, a breakfast nook and a walk-in pantry.

Period details are evident throughout. Broad archways connect common areas; stained-glass windows filter hued light; and a wrought-iron staircase runs between both floors. A backsplash done in black subway tile and a retro six-burner stove lend a vintage look to the kitchen.

There are five bedrooms and three bathrooms in all.

Outdoors, the backyard includes an entertainers patio and a greenhouse. A detached two-car garage sits off the side of the home.

Ingram bought the property in 1982 for $268,000, public records show.

Harma Hartouni of Keller Williams Realty was the listing agent. Scott Nell, also with Keller Williams, represented the buyer.

Ingram, a vocalist and instrumentalist, won Grammys for the 1980s hits Yah Mo B There and One Hundred Ways. The 54-year-old has worked with such musicians as Ray Charles, Donna Summer, Quincy Jones, Linda Ronstadt, Michael McDonald and Patty Smyth.

He has released five studio albums, including Stand in 2008.
