Timothy Tamura of OC’s Valia Properties loses cancer battle
Timothy Tamura, who named his Valia Properties after an ancient word meaning “there’s value in truth,” has died.
The co-founder and managing partner of the Newport Beach-based luxury brokerage died from cancer at an undisclosed time and place, the Orange County Business Journal reported, citing an Instagram post from the firm. He was 64.
Tamura founded Valia Properties in the mid-1990s with a core group of veteran brokers in Corona del Mar.
Over the past decade, the brokers at Valia racked up more than $4 billion in real estate sales, according to its LinkedIn page. The brokerage handles both sales and leases.
The firm’s Instagram post described Tamura as “the driving force” behind Valia Properties. Despite the loss, it will continue “strong and committed to upholding the values Tim instilled in the brokerage.”
“Tim’s vision, dedication and leadership have been instrumental in shaping the brokerage’s success and reputation,” the post said. “His heartfelt approach to fostering relationships, coupled with his unwavering commitment to excellence, left an indelible mark on the community we are so fortunate to serve.”
Orange County’s real estate community remembered Tamura’s contributions to the region and industry.
“His integrity, commitment to excellence and kindness to his peers was a rare combination. He will definitely be missed,” John Cain, president of Cain Group, told the Business Journal.
